Tony DePaul (born 1954) is an American comic writer. Since the early 1990's he has written several comics for the Swedish Fantomen comic book, including "The Phantom". Because of this, he got the opportunity to take over the Phantom daily and Sunday strip.
During his time as a writer for the daily stories he was involved in a serious motorcycle accident and due to the time it took to recover, he re-used some of his earlier Fantomen scripts for the newspaper strip.
Besides "The Phantom", he has written the comics "Dödsspelet" and "Det okända" for Fantomen, both illustrated by Kari Leppänen.
Before he became a freelance writer and writing comics, he was a journalist for 20 years.
