Durru mushrooms are known to cause fits of madness that make its victims go wild.
The mushrooms grow in The Misty Mountains and was used by the Teneke people before going into battle, as it took away their fear and made them stronger. A past Phantom defeated the Teneke people and banned the use of durru mushrooms. Durru was mostly forgotten, until Teneke medicine man N'Guru used the mushrooms to poison chief B'Wala, which made B'Wala violent and dangerous. The intention was to force B'Wala to resign and give the throne to his brother Tubu. The plot was revealed when some of the mushrooms were also used to prepare food in the Deep Woods, which effected all who ate the food including The Phantom, Rex, Guran, and Miss Tagama. Evil Schemes
Kigali Lubanga used durru mushrooms to make it appear as if Agent Nanaga of the security police had gone mad and killed himself. Election in Bengali Pt 1: The Challenger
Lubanga then gave durru mushrooms to Eddie Honda and assumed that this would make Honda able to kill The Phantom. The plan failed when Honda knocked down a crate during the ferocious battle with the Phantom, and died when the crate fell on his head. Election in Bengali Pt 2: The Loser
Lubanga used the mushrooms to cause the death of reporter Llebele Wambele in a similar way to how Agent Nanaga died. The Snake Cult, Pt 1
