Plot synopsis
Sandal Singh grows up in a jungle palace. Her father Dogai Singh mostly ignores her and her mother is too much of an opium addict to care about her. Dogai Singh married his wife as a business deal with the powerful Zuqqut clan but he openly scorns his wife for not giving him a son. Sandal's only friend is Belim, the son of a servant, and together they explore the secrets of the palace and the surrounding jungle. One day Sandal leaves the palace grounds by herself and when she is stuck in a swamp, she is saved by The Phantom, whom she feels she can trust. A short time later her mother kills herself.
After a falling out between the Singh family and the Zuqqut clan, the jungle palace is attacked by Farhadi Zuqqut and his men. The Phantom is nearby and manages to save Sandal and Belim from being killed.
