The Vultures is a centuries-old criminal organization, and arch-enemies of the Phantom. They made their first appearance in the Phantom story "The Vultures" from 1971. They are easily recognized by that they all have shaved off their hair and tattooed a V on their forehead.

Behind the scenes

In Swedish they are called "Vråkarna" ("The Buzzards") so that their name would begin with V. In Swedish, "the vultures" is translated to "gamarna".

In Norway they are called "Gribbene" ("The Vultures") or "Musevåkene" ("The Buzzards").
