Behind the scenes
- This story was originally intended as the second "graphic novel"-type story produced by Team Fantomen, after "Flame". The "Piratbruden Flame" album sold well enough and "The Treasure of the Barracuda" was ready to be published in 1982. But at that time Semic had decided to stop publishing comic albums and it was decided that "The Treasure of the Barracuda" would be published in the regular Fantomen magazine instead of a color album.[1]
- Doctor Waghorn has learned from his research that the Jungle Patrol was founded by The Phantom who defeated Redbeard and recruited pirates as the first patrolmen. Not even the Jungle Patrol records include this fact!
