Plot synopsis
After murdering Lieutenant Willy Sambale and stealing the priceless artefact, the Pandora’s Mask, Patrolman Roger Byrnes of the Jungle Patrol has fled Morristown and come to Cairo to sell the mask to Mahmoud the Cruel. He and the local belly dancer named Rose of Cairo, who was working for Mahmoud, get abducted by Mahmoud’s lackey Ahmed who wanted the mask for himself. After confrontation with The Phantom Byrnes has died falling into a crocodile pit while Rose of Cairo, after killing Ahmed has escaped with the receipt of the airport deposit box where the mask is hidden.
Rose of Cairo decides to keep the mask for herself but is soon caught by Mahmoud’s men who, after being informed by Rose’s co-worker, are waiting for her at the airport. Mahmoud’s men meet with an accident on their way to their headquarters and the Phantom manages to rescue Rose and the mask. Yussuf, a street boy who had earlier helped the Phantom, once again comes to his help and takes them to his grandfather’s house. Rose of Cairo, however, manages to drug the Phantom’s drink and escapes with the mask. She is, however, soon caught again by Mahmoud’s men who also capture the Phantom from Yussuf’s place and both are taken to Mahmoud the Cruel. He reveals that his family owns the Pandora’s box which can only be opened with help of the mask making him powerful enough to conquer the whole world.
Yussuf, in the meantime, has followed them to Mahmoud’s place and turns off the electric power at a crucial point enabling the Phantom to escape with the mask. The escape, however, is short lived and the Phantom is once again captured and tied up. Rose of Cairo, in the meantime, takes advantage of the confusion and vanishes after stealing money from Mahmoud’s safe. Mahmoud finally manages to open the Pandora’s box which results in a strange vortex which sucks in everybody into the box. The Phantom is also pulled in along with his chains but manages to kick the box shut before he is sucked inside and thus survives. He is, however, unable to retrieve the Pandora’s Mask as it has disappeared along with the box.
