"The Retreat of Major Flower" is a 1965 Fratelli Spada story by Senio Pratesi.
Plot summary
Set during World War II, the Japanese are planning to cut through the Bangalla jungle in order to reach the Bay of Bengal. As they do so, they also plan to attack and destroy a regiment of English soldiers who have come to Bengalla to help evacuate some 200 civilians who have been working on a damn in the jungle to redirect the flow of one of the rivers. The Phantom attempts to help the English hold off the invaders and save the civilians.
