The Tez is a goldsmith tribe in the Bangalla jungle.

Fictional History

There is some confusion of the appearance and nature of Tez since they were peaceful and slim goldsmiths in the early 17th century and in the late 19th century, but cruel and fat users of slave labor to make their gold products in the present.

Behind the scenes

In "Fantomen Talar" of Fantomen 10/1989, the editor is trying to explain the somewhat conflicting descriptions of the tribe by proposing that there has been a parting of the tribe; one living in the jungle, and one in the mountains. Mining gold in the mountains was considered too heavy for the Tez, and hence they began using slave labor to do their work, and they themself became fat and cruel. Changed diet may also have played a part in it.
