Plot summary
As commander of the Jungle Patrol, the Phantom has ordered two steamships from England. When he arrives at the Villiers Shipyards in London two thugs stop him at the entrance with the news that Mr Villiers himself has died. Lord Darkson, the shipyard's main creditor has dismissed the shipyard workers despite protests from the late owner’s daughter, miss Villiers. The shipyard is close to bankrupt and Lord Darkson wants to get control of it to be able to build war ships for the Confederation in the ongoing US civil war.
