- This is the first Gold Key story to feature the Phantom's "Mr. Walker" outfit, as well as the first story to mention an old jungle saying. Neither "Mr. Walker" nor the phrase "(old) jungle saying" is mentioned though.
- Additionally, it is the first Gold Key story, not to include Devil and Hero.
- Following tradition, the Phantom is seen living in Cabin 14 when traveling aboard the SS Marlar.
