Mats Jönsson was a Swedish comics creator and editor.
Biography
His first published work was the science fiction comic "Heaven Hansson", which he both wrote and drew in the late 1970s.
Jönsson was recruited to work for Fantomen by (the then-editor) Ulf Granberg in 1986 and was the thirteenth editor 1987-1990 before being succeeded by Björn Ihrstedt.
He remained at Semic Press and Egmont Kärnan after that, working on several of their comic titles.
In the early 2000's, Jönsson began to write scripts for "The Phantom" and the back-up comic "Tybalt" (created by Norman Worker).
He worked briefly on the editorial staff of Fantomen again in 2003, and in 2006 he became editor of Fantomen Krönika.
In February 2007 he passed away at the age of 53. His last issue of Fantomen Krönika was released after his death and it contained an obituary of him, written by Granberg in place of the editor's note.
