Talk:Dr Axel
Behind the scenes
I added a new headline for information related to the real world (as opposed to the fictional world of the Phantom). I couldn't think of anything better than "Behind the Scenes", another blatant ripoff from Wookiepedia. But maybe there can be a better way to describe this section? - Yeah - we need to keep the perspective apart... Good add!
- Hm... what about "Character development" as opposed to "Fictional character biography"? Pjär 16:57, 19 February 2008 (CET)
- It's good, but even better would be something neutral that can be used not only for characters, but locations, stories, objects, gangs, tribes etc. Member 7 19:01, 19 February 2008 (CET)
- Hmm.... once again - true... and I can't come up with any good enough suggestion... so if no one else has any other idea, I'm all for "Behind the scenes". Maybe change "Fictional character biography" to simply "Fictional history", in correspondence to the "neutral" argument above?. Pjär 01:54, 20 February 2008 (CET)
- Or we could take a leaf out of some of the other wiki's book and treat fictional characters pages as "in Universe" for example at wookieepedia everything mentioned about the character is included in there history under titles such as Early age and from then major events for instance what happened in a comic and any real world information posted in a Behind the scenes section. Everyone knows it a fictional Biography but this gives the page a more ordered look for some ideas i suggest checking out a few character bios at wookieepedia --Dark Lord Xander 08:29, 20 February 2008 (CET)
- True, when I picked the "Fictional Character I took iBiography" header t from "real" wikipedia. Wookiepedia has many good examples on how to treat fictional characters as "in Universe". Member 7 08:40, 20 February 2008 (CET)

- I'm not that comfortable with having a basic in-universe approach without commentating it in the articles... Partly because it gives the expression that in-universe is better or more interesting than the "out-of-universe" perspective (which I strongly disagree with) and partly because I fear it will lead to that we tend to forget about the behind the scenes part of the Phantom universe. Keeping the "Fictional Character Biography" (or similar) header also is vital in order to keep the unbiased perspective of the PhantomWiki, IMO. Pjär 13:42, 20 February 2008 (CET)
Not Necessarily because remember the majority of articles on this wiki should be about a fictional place or person as it is a wiki about a comic series and therefore should be written as if it were in a scense real with behind the scenes to say things like who the character is based on why its there and things like that everyone knows its fiction. and as for forgetting about the behind the scenes alot of articles about fictional things will not have one as there isn't any info to put there so i don't see the need for blatantly pointing it out to readers that its fiction and then writing it in such a way as i have seen around some of the character articles.
For example Dr Axel (since we are on this talk page) should have in my opinion a box on the right hand side have all his stats then from that have detailed information about his life taking info from things that have been mentioned and stories he has appeared in once thats complete you have a Behind the Scenes or something of the like section were you say this character was Created by ... after ... his name has been spelled Alxel on one occasion ect ect finally a section for appearances and mentions and a small section for references that have been used through his biography so people know which comic the info comes from and also helps check to see if its correct so thats the general structure that i have used on other sites and is used in the majority if not all Wiki's that are based on a fictional character aka The Phantom because after all thats what we are writing about not like wikipedia where its real and had to be sourced about twenty times its fiction and therefore should be written like fiction.
on the other hand pages about actual people, comics, books and things that actually happened should be written like that so really what we need is the site divided into two categories like other wikis have "In Universe" for people, places and anything else that appears in the comics and "Real World" for every thing else such as Artists, Writers, comics, movies and the like --Dark Lord Xander 07:12, 21 February 2008 (CET)
On Looking at the article again it seems that almost everything i have said above is starting to take shape by itself except for "Fictional Characer Bio" instead of just Bio --Dark Lord Xander 07:15, 21 February 2008 (CET)
- One of the main problems about writing "in-universe style" on the Phantom Wiki character articles is that for most character several basic elements of the characters differs severely between the stories of Lee Falk, Team Fantomen, Moonstone, Bastei, Fratelli Spada, etc. and since one of the goals of the Wiki is to not regard one version of the Phantom higher than another, we do NEED the to write out of universe for several characters (something that is specially true for articles covering past Phantoms). This is also the reason why (I think that) we can't include to much in-universe data in the introducing template. Sure it would have been nice if the Phantom's world wasn't contradicted, but it is hardly the case :) Pjär 12:28, 21 February 2008 (CET)
True while i would like it to be in universe i understand your point although if we do go down that path in what ever way its obvious that we will need seperate sections relating to Team Fantomen, Falk, Moonstone and the Like. --Dark Lord Xander 09:50, 22 February 2008 (CET)

Did Team Fantomen actually kept Axel as a black man into the 80s as well? I thought it only was for some stories in the 70s? Pjär 14:54, 20 February 2008 (CET)
