Michael Thoor (born in 1963 as Mikael Gustafsson) is a Swedish illustrator, artist, and graphic designer.
Biography
Thoor was born Mikael Gustafsson in 1963. During the 1990s he created three short stories for the Swedish comics magazine Svenska serier, and in 1991 he created the Fantomen's publishing schedule poster; Fantomen 1/1991 poster. Additionally, he made an illustration with The Phantom for the title page of Fantomen Christmas Album 1994.
By 2023, Mikael Gustafsson had changed his name to Michael Thoor. His 1991 poster was reprinted as the cover of Fantomen 20/2023, which was voted the Best Fantomen cover 2023. Hence, it was included as a poster in Fantomen 16/2024.
One of his Svenska serier stories, the short science fiction story "Skatten", works as a sequel to "The Phantom", as it features a future descendant of the last Phantom, returning to Earth and the Skull Cave. It was reprinted in Fantomen 25-26/2024.
Thoor's original last name, Gustafsson, has often been misspelled "Gustavsson" in editorial texts and credits.
As of 2024, Thoor is the CEO of the pedagogic web resource Skolplus.se.
