Artist studio
About the studio responsible for the art of the German stories. I seem to recall hearing/reading that it was Studio Giolitti in Italy who was behind it. I might be mistaken though... Pjär 02:51, 25 February 2008 (CET)
- Studio Giolitti did do work for Bastei on other titles so it is possible they worked on the Phantom aswell. However, there can be a mix-up since it is confirmed that Studio Giolitti produced art for Fratelli Spada stories. (I believe this was denied in the Fantomen club pages some years ago but Massimo Belardinelli, Dino Leonetti and Angelo Todaro all worked for Studio Giolitti when they produced artwork for Fratelli Spada's stories)
- As for the Bastei stories, there has also been mentions of a Spanish studio [1], and I've even been in contact with Peter Mennigen himself, who recalls a Studio Spadari in Argentina! (the artwork looks nothing like César Spadari's work, though) Member 7 08:16, 25 February 2008 (CET)
- I have now added all Bastei stories I have knowledge of. Since I have many holes in my German collection, there can be as many as 50-100 more stories to add. I will now make basic articles with image examples for the stories I have, and the next step after that will be more detailed plot summaries/appearance listings (which will require me to read these stories - I have mostly just glanced through them so far). I can also add that even though the artists are uncredited, most of them have distinct individual styles. So in the future I may separate them by crediting them as "Unknown Bastei artist 1" etc.
- And if anyone wants to translate the titles to English, feel free to do so. I can understand German OK but I'm not 100% sure of all the articles, genitives or plurals so I don't dare to translate :) Member 7 16:24, 10 March 2008 (CET)
- Would it be possible to create a checklist for us to know which issues still are to be checked for original Bastei stories? Maybe post it on this talk page? Pjär 14:16, 11 March 2008 (CET)
