Rodia (sometimes spelled Rhodia) is one of Bangalla's neighbouring countries.

Government and politics

Unlike Bangalla, Rodia is not a democracy but is ruled by a junta. The country is also racially segregated much like South Africa during the days of Apartheid.

During General Bababu's reign over Bengali, Rodia was considered an evil regime and Bababu built fortifications along the border to protect Bengali. Nuclear Terror

A few hundred thousand white people rule, while 8 million Africans don't have a right to vote. One hundred thousand black Africans who work in Marcusburg live in guarded slum areas of the city, such as Lowfield. Interracal marriage is not explicitly forbidden, although it is made difficult as they are not allowed to live in the same areas, and it would be considered a scandal. On Forbidden Land

After a civil war, the country became a democracy and the first democratically elected president was Nelson N'Dela.

Geography

The capital of Rodia is Marcusburg.

Behind the scenes

  • The first mention of Rodia is in "Return of the Irregulars", drawn by Özcan Eralp. This is in part a remake of a Lee Falk story, and has no other credited writer.
  • The first story to actually take place in Rodia is "The Dead River", by Magnus Knutsson and Jaime Vallvé.
  • The name Rodia (occasionally spelled Rhodia) is inspired by Rhodesia, today known as Zimbabwe.
  • Rodia is a rare example of a Team Fantomen creation that has appeared in the newspaper strip. However, the segregation of Rodia has not been mentioned in the newspaper strip.
