Phantom Selezione was an Italian comic series dedicated to "The Phantom" and published monthly by Fratelli Spada.

History

Phantom Selezione was released in a pocket book format and consisted of 168 pages (including covers), the whole series following the same concept: to present colored Phantom stories - mainly the dailies - drawn by Sy Barry, accompanied with back-up comics - such as "Flash Gordon", "Cisco Kid", "Secret Agent X-9" printed either in black & white or in color.

However, and even if the series was almost in phase with the current American production of the time, the small size of the issues didn't pay real tribute to the original strips and only 19 issues were released from November 1976 to December 1979.

A similar series, entitled Mandrake Selezione, was also published by Fratelli Spada featuring "Mandrake the Magician".

In France this Phantom series was published by Editions des Remparts as part of the second series of Le Fantôme Spécial.
