Le Fantôme (Héritage)

Le Fantôme was a Canadian publication dedicated to the Phantom.

History

Le Fantôme was published from January, 1975 to December, 1977 with a total of 24 issues. The series was published by the Editions Héritage, a company specialized in publishing French-language versions of US comic books, for the French-speaking people of Canada.

The covers and contents were taken from the US Phantom comic books published by Gold Key, King and Charlton Comics. Unlike the US versions however, the Canadian series was in black/white. It should be noted that if the covers were the same as the original ones, the inside stories were sometimes published in a different order (for instance, Heritage issue # 5 contains two stories from Charlton # 33 and one from Charlton # 34).

Unsold copies of the issues were later glued together with a new outside cover and collected as albums.
