"The Patrolwomen" is the 222nd Phantom daily story. The story was written by Tony De Paul and drawn by Paul Ryan.

Plot Summary

The story begins in Mawitaan, where two young women: Hawa, a local police officer, and Kay, a waitress, are bored with their jobs and looking for something more fulfilling.

Lunching with Diana gives them both the idea of joining the Jungle Patrol; but Colonel Worubu is appalled at the idea of women officers. Hawa suggests a test - if they capture a dangerous killer and arms trafficker, they're in. (Hawa has already had dealings with the man - a notorious jay-walker.)

Going back to town, the girls track the villain to his luxury hotel. With the Phantom posing as the hotel detective, many bad guys are captured and information comes out about the latest arms deal.

The girls, with covert help from the Phantom, break up the deal and Hawa uses her police training to run the villain off the road. Colonel Worubu reluctantly admits defeat and the Jungle Patrol starts building its first female barracks.
