History

This article, or section of an article, is very short. You can help PhantomWiki by expanding it.

Behind the Scenes

The place has had many different names, but is apparently always meant to represent the same location. The first time that the witchmen of the jungle gathered, the place was called Mt. Weerd. Later names have included Doom Peak, Bald Peak and variations of Witchmen's Peak.

The name Doom Peak was translated into Swedish as Ödestoppen, which translated back to English means Destiny Peak or Destiny Top. When it appeared in Team Fantomen stories that were translated into English, the connection to the already existing location was missed and Destiny Top has been used instead, adding yet another name. An incorrect name has even appeared in the Sunday strip. In "Woduro's Secret", written by Swedish writer Claes Reimerthi, it is called Destiny's Peak.

There is also a Mandrake the Magician story called "Witchmen's Peak" from 1956 (before that name hade appeared in Phantom stories). This Mandrake story takes place in Africa near Lothar's home, but the peak has some characteristics that never have appeared in the Phantom strip ,i.e. the top of the peak is always covered in fog and a whole village of witchmen live there. Also, the story ends with Mandrake destroying this peak.
