Tit-Bits was a newspaper compilation of various characters and published in Buenos Aires by Editorial Manuel Láinez It was the first Argentine publication to publish "The Phantom".

History

The Phantom in this serie was named La Sombra and first appeared on May 23, 1936 in issue #1404. In the first period, it appeared on two daily strips printed in b/w (one strip per page), but from issue #1413 had been publishing on two color pages. Later, the strips were edited with all speech bubbles removed and the text printed below the panels, to issue #1702. After World War II, it appeared usually on only one color page per issue (only sometimes on two or three pages), but again with text in speech bubbles. In the middle of 1950s, some stories have been published in supplement issues. Unlike regular series, supplements have been printed in landscape format and in b/w.

Tit-Bits was founded in 1909 and it was published to 1957. Format was 26 × 35 cm. Since the start it has included various interesting articles, but in 1930s started publishing comics. Among them are "Red Barry", "Terry and the Pirates", "Steve Roper and Mike Nomad", "Big Ben Bolt", and some Argentine comics.

The Phantom has appeared on severeal covers throughout the years, illustrated by various artists, like Alberto Breccia, Franz Guzmán, and Fernando Fernandez Eyre.
