"Test of an Idol" is a 1971 Charlton story, written by Joe Gill and drawn by Pat Boyette.

Plot summary

Iris Benton, a famous actress, is visiting Bengali for the shoot of one of her films. Impressed by the Phantom, a role for for his character is written into the script of the film which is played by an actor. Iris wanders into the jungle and is taken away by a wild gorilla. The Phantom goes to the gorillas's cave and rescues her.
