"Son of the Pirate Queen, Part 1: The Skull Necklace" is a 2005 Team Fantomen story, written by David Bishop, with art by César Spadari.

Plot synopsis

In November 1889 in Morristown the murderous followers of the Kali sect have caught Karim Ranjay whom they believe stole a skull necklace from a Kali temple. When the Phantom has rescued Ranjay by knocking down the sect members, Ranjay knocks down the Phantom and gets on a ship to England, bringing with him the necklace. Also on the ship are the Phantom's half-brother Chris and his nurse Anna.

Behind the scenes

  • The Australian reprint of this story refers to a past encounter with the Thuggees in The Phantom #807808. Those issues feature the story "The Thuggees", but the actual story that should be referred to is "The Kali Sect" (where the Thuggees were called Thuger in the Australian reprint).
