Rolf Janson (1925–2017) was the first editor of the Swedish Phantom comic book, Fantomen.

Biography

Janson became the editor of Fantomen in 1950 when it started and continued until 1952, his last issue being Fantomen 17/1952, then he was succeeded by Calle Wästfelt.

He went on with his career and founded the following comic books:

• Tarzan (1951)
• Blondie(1951)
• Tuff och Tuss och deras vänner (1953)
• Teddy – världens starkaste björn (1959)
• Svenska Mad (The Swedish MAD, 1960)
• Pellefant (started in Sagoserien, 1962)

Trivia

• He designed the logotype to Fantomen.
• The cat Janson in the Swedish comic Bamse is named after him.
