Jason Parnassos is a fanatic collector of classic art.

Fictional Character Biography

Parnassos has made a fortune selling oil tankers, weapons and medicine. He lives on a private island in the Gulf of Naples, Italy, in a Roman villa once built by the Roman emperor Tiberius. On his private floor of the villa he has an invaluable collection of original art objects, including Botticelli's The Birth of Venus, the marble sculpture Winged Victory of Samothrace, the sculpture Lion of Venice, the Eros statue from Picadilly Circus, the torch from Statue of Liberty and a self portrait of Rembrandt, all stolen from its owners and replaced by copies. When his setup is revealed by the Phantom, he is sentenced to prison. The Art Collector

He later escapes from prison, making it look like he died in a car accident. He arranges for his mistress Medea Kantonis to act as his front man to buy his private island. Using a drawing by Leonardo da Vinci he attempts to find the mythical object The Golden Fleece. The Golden Fleece, Part 2: The Grave of Tiberius

His father Kiryas Parnassos was also a collector of antiques. The Golden Fleece, Part 1: Argo

Behind the Scenes

  • His last name would be spelled Παρνασσός in Greek, and has been transcribed in the stories as both Parnassus and Parnassos.
