Plot synopsis
The 21st Phantom tells the origin of Eden story to Rex and Tom-Tom.
Soon after the Second World War ends The 20th Phantom hears about a wild child caught by the Llongo. When he meets the child he finds out they call him Archie because all he says is "arch". The Phantom tries to civilise the child, teaching him to read, write, and speak, but Archie refuses. When the Phantom sees Archie's close relationship with wild and dangerous animals, he decides to let Archie live on an uninhabited and at the time unnamed island. When the Phantom returns to visit Archie, he observes that the lion and the lamb live together in peace, like it says in the Bible, so he decides to call the island Eden.
Some time later Archie informs the Phantom of some strange objects which appeared on Eden which turn out to be German war supplies dropped off by a German submarine whose crew do not know the war is over. An English destroyer hunting the German submarine engages and brings chaos to Eden. Archie gives his life protecting his animals and his grave is marked with a stone slab. Rex and Tom-Tom leave wild flowers for the wild boy, whose spirit still calms the animals on Eden.
