Blackheart was a member of the Singh Brotherhood. He was designated to serve as first mate under Cyclops on the new warship The Dreadnought. However, the ship was destroyed by the 18th Phantom with help from Kate Sommerset and her son Chris. Blackheart was however under the impression that Kate was a Singh pirate at the time, and when she offered to battle the 18th Phantom, Blackheart was offended by the idea of a woman representing the Singh. Blackheart attacked her so she was badly cut in the face and fell overboard. Of the Same Blood

By 1907, Blackheart was a captain and raided ships that ran aground on Convent Island. He recognized the abbess of the convent as Kate due to the scar on her face. He forced her to help him by threatening to reveal her for other Singh pirates who wanted to see her dead. The 18th Phantom was after Blackheart, but was defeated in battle and thrown into the sea. The Phantom was washed up on Convent Island and cared for by the nuns, but had amnesia and did not remember how he ended up there or who he was. The Phantom slowly regained his memory and discovered that Blackheart was working with the abbess Kate. The 18th Phantom battled Blackheart, when Kate killed Blackheart with the same dagger he had scarred her with years ago. Convent Island
