Plot summary

In 1805 the Mori rescue a shipwrecked man and woman. The woman, Mary Read, has found half a treasure map that leads to Black Poe's treasure and she has convinced her uncle, Richard Read, to pay for an expedition to Fire Island to find it. Her story reminds The 13th Phantom of a story where his father The 12th Phantom defeated the pirate Black Poe in 1788. The pirate's sword is kept in The Skull Cave and inside its handle he finds the missing half of the treasure map. The Phantom promises to help Mary find the treasure; he does not know that Mary Read is on a quite different quest.
