It is night in Baronkhan and the prince is asleep, sleeping on the floor of his bedroom. Uniformed mercenaries attack the royal guard and its chief, colonel Petra. Prince Rex is awakened by gunfire and manages to escape into the cellar.
Outside in an armed camp general Bababu is briefed about the attack. He is upset that the prince has not been found but orders the second stage of the attack to proceed. General Bababu's mercenaries take control of the airport then make a triumphant entry into Baronkhan the next day.
President Sandal Singh of Bengali tells journalists that Bengali has no right to interfere in Baronkhan. The council of Shambad meets to discuss the invasion; princess Alicia want to help their neighbour but is advised against this.
Prince Rex is almost captured by the soldiers in the pantry. The Phantom rents an airplane and parachutes into Baronkhan. He enters the city in disguise and have to listen to general Bababu making a speech. The general declares that all adult men must work every second week in the diamond mines. The Phantom is spotted by the general's men but is helped by prince Rex' bodyguard captain Lara who is staying at her parent's house. The general is briefed about the mysterious stranger and correctly guesses that his arch enemy The Phantom has arrived. The general decides to set a trap. Later a public declaration is made that the prince will be executed in public the next day.
When the Phantom enters the castle to set the prince free he is quickly captured and puts into a cell with colonel Petra. They manage to get out of the cell by tricking two of the guards. They meet prince Rex who is still hiding in the royal castle. In the general's private office they discover his plan to also attack the neighbouring countries Shambad and Darmistan.
It is decided that prince Rex and colonel Petra must warn their neighbours. Prince Rex walk to Shambad. In Shambad he is first refused entry by guards at the gate but eventually manages to speak with princess Alicia in her bed chamber. Meanwhile The Phantom has went after the general. He captures the general then make his men choose between the general's life or being captured. His men don't care much for the general's life and decide to fight. At that moment, as the sun rises, soldiers of Shambad surround the camp and the general falls into the river when he tries to shoot the Phantom. As Baronkhan is free again, the miserable general is placed in a cell waiting for trial.
