Plot summary
In 1787 the 12th Phantom finds a shipwrecked man lying on a beach. The man, Robert Fitzgiles, explains that he is on his way to India to find a way to cancel a curse that has been laid upon him. His father was a rich English landowner who recently acquired Wentworth forest. His father's plans of cutting down the forest made a witch in the forest place a curse on the family, meaning that Robert will be transformed into a wolf on his 25th birthday. The only known cure is a special rose who only grows in the Himalayas.
