Phantom (Comic Art) New Comics Now
New Comics Now was an Italian series featuring reprints of classical American comics published by Comics Art Edition between 1980 and 1998.
Amongst various comics - such as Agent Secret X-9, Popeye, Flash Gordon, Brick Bradford, Tim Tyler's Luck, Dick Tracy, Rip Kirby, Mickey Mouse, Mandrake the Magician - a total of 94 issues were devoted to The Phantom, almost one out four of the whole production.
These issues feature daily strips as well as Sunday pages material which had been originally published from 1936 to 1996, with however a notable gap concerning the first decade of Sy Barry's works (maybe such a part would had been released too if the Edition Comics Art had not ceased its activity in 1998).
With a large format and a pagination ranging from 48 to 128 pages for each issue, the series had an attractive look and was of special interest for comics collectors. At the then time being (eighties and nineties), the name "New Comics Now" was chosen to mean that old comics material had the opportunity to be out again and touch a new audience too.
