Per G. Hvidsten was the winner of the Fantomen writing competition which was announced in Fantomen 21/1987. He was announced as the winner in Fantomen 24/1988, under his former name Per G. Olsen.
The first stage of the competition was only to write a synopsis. After writing a full script, the story was finally published in 1992.
During the 1980s, he worked on the Norwegian Fantomet comic book and answered reader mail under the signature "Sjefen". He worked for several Norwegian publishers from the 1960s to the 1980s, and also wrote comic scripts for "Pink Panther" comics.
