In the year 2008, a total of 22 issues of Swedish comic book Fantomen were published.

Overview

2008 continued the trend of reducing the number of actual issues published in favor of "double issues". In total, 22 issues were published of which 18 were regular issues of 68 pages and 4 were "double issues" of 132 pages. The double issues were on sale for four weeks, while the other issues were on sale for two weeks.

The first issue of 2008 was released on December 27, 2007. The corresponding issue of Fantomet was released on December 24, 2007, and was numbered as the last issue of 2007 instead. The corresponding Finnish issue was released first of the three, on December 19, 2007, but was still numbered as the first issue of 2008.

Covers

Rolf Gohs was the main cover artist of the year, with a total of 11 covers. Other cover artists included Hans Lindahl (2 covers), Sal Velluto & Eugenio Mattozzi (2 covers), Felmang & Germano Ferri (2 covers), Felmang & Alex Biffignandi (1 cover), Heiner Bade (1 cover), César Spadari (1 cover), Joan Boix (1 cover) and Paul Ryan (1 cover). With 9 different cover artists (or cover artist teams), this was the highest number of different cover artists in a single year in the history of Fantomen.

The cover design where the cover artwork was placed inside a frame ended with Fantomen 25, after having been used for 23 issues. The new cover design was more in line with previous years, where the cover artwork fills the entire front page.

Most of the issues up till 18-19 also featured one of two different artworks on the first inside cover page or on page 3. They had been published before.
