"Queen Amaza's Mate" is the 128th Phantom Sunday story. It was originally published in American newspapers from December 28th, 1986 to June 28th, 1987. It was written by Lee Falk and drawn by Sy Barry.
A people consisting of only women makes raides into the jungle and takes young men as prisoners. Back in their camp they start picking mates and fights is near to erupt over the men. Queen Amaza decides to send one of her women after the best man she could find in the jungle.
The woman is disguised in dark color to make her blend in with the jungle tribes. She enters the Jungle Olympics and sees the Phantom and decides that he is the best. She lures the Phantom to follow her by claiming that her village is attacked at a regular basis by plunderers. The travelling time is two days but as they are nearly there, the Phantom discovers that her skin color is not natural. She manages to knock him out by a drink and some others of her people turns up.
It then turns out that the women has a law that regulates them to only marry men of their own race. Their people have had the problem that there has only been born females and the men have died. The Phantom instructs them to sail for a month eastwards.
The Phantom and the young men are released and the Phantom travels home and tells the tale. When Diana asks him the question of where he sent the women, he answers China.
