Hrvatski dnevnik was a Yugoslavian newspaper that published "The Phantom" daily and Sunday strip from 1936 to 1941 seven days a week, and then reprinted first four daily stories in comic book series "Fantom" in 1937 and 1938. It was the first Phantom publication ever in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia.

Hrvatski dnevnik was a daily newspaper published in Zagreb. It started in May 1936 and canceled in April 1941.

The newspaper was published in Croatian language. Daily strips sometimes have been edited and reduced to three panels unlike four in original version, and then in some period strips published in Hrvatski dnevnik were combined from panels of two original strips. It means that many strips were published over two days. For example, on April 24, 1939 the last panel of the last strip from the story "The Shark's Nest" was published and the first two panels of the first original strip from the next story "Fishers of Pearls". It's interesting that translator was famous Yugoslavian / Croatian poet Ivan Goran Kovačić.

The last issue was published on April 14, 1941, but didn't contain any Phantom strip. Newspaper was banned by the government of Independent State of Croatia.
