Alfred Bester

Alfred Bester (December 18, 1913 – September 30, 1987), was American writer. He worked on the Phantom comic strip as ghostwriter when Lee Falk served in the US army.

Some researchers are now convinced Bester invented the "Mr. Walker" street name for the Phantom, and if this can ever be proved, it would place Bester's involvement with the stories "The Phantom Goes to War" and definitely "Bent Beak Broder" in which "Mr. Walker" tag was first used. Some researchers are convinced his Phantom scripting continued into 1945 and remembering Lee Falk's year of discharge from the American Army, that makes perfect sense.1
