Plot summary

The ambassador of the Netherlands in Venice is murdered. A short time later, the future 12th Phantom, is walking in Venice when he meets Amine van der Lööwe, daughter of the new ambassador, during an incident. He falls in love with her and, to her great irritation, starts to write love letters to her. Finally, he follows her during a party and becomes the witness of how Amine's father, ambassador Van der Lööwe, stabs his grandfather, Claudio di Mascarelli, to death. He is then knocked out by Amine and framed for the murder.
