Plot summary
In flashback, it is revealed that Aziz Yussuf had met Sherazad's mother and fancied her. However, Sherazad's mother rebuffed Aziz and in a Aziz was humiliated. He never forgot this and when Sherazad's parents crossed his path again he took advantage of the situation and had them murdered, leaving Sherazad an orphan.
Finally arriving at Sherazad's home, The Phantom and Sherazad declare their love for one another. They spend several happy days together before Aziz shows up. It is revealed that as he could not have Sherazad's mother, he now wants her but, like her mother, Sherazad is not interested. In his anger at Sherazad's dismissal of his advances, Aziz admits that it was he who killed Sherazad's parents and who put the snake in The Phantom's plane. A fight breaks out and Aziz manages to fire a shot off at The Phantom, the bullet striking him in the head and knocking him unconscious. Aziz escaped Sherazad and The Phantom, but in his haste to get away runs into some quicksand and succums.
Back in Sherazad's mansion, The Phantom awakens with his memory restored.

Behind the scenes
- During the scene when the Phantom tries to get information out of Aziz, he calls Sherazad "Saba." This could be attributed to his confused state of mind, even though it was probably an editorial mistake.
- The butler Des is drawn to look like the butler Desmond from the Rip Kirby comic strip.
