The Phantom is the novelization of the 1996 film starring Billy Zane, published in the same year. It has been adapted from Jeffery Boam's script by writer Rob MacGregor.

The novel fleshes out the story of the film considerably and includes scenes that were cut from the theatrical run of the film. The characters are better realized and the origins of the First Phantom are greatly expanded.
