I have recently come across a couple of examples of co-produced newspapers. In some cases, there are simply different editions of the same newspaper, but with different titles. Sometimes, There are to separate newspapers that are joined together, with diferent editions, eventually becoming only one edition. See [[LV.]], [[LK.]], [[VP.]], [[Folkbladet]], and [[Östgöten]] which illustrates two examples of this.

HOW are we to make articles about this? Separate for the different editions (as I have done)? Separate articles for the different newspapers, even for the part of the publication of [[dailies]] after they have become one newspaper?


I have also thought of that, but I'm still unable to identify such local newspapers. Somebody could help ? More largely, it however remains a logical matter: if the list ought to be devoted to countries, Martinique has not the same status as the other names...I suggest to omit it, at least until some concrete publishing information might be found. There are several territories around the world that is under ther rule of som country, but have a little kind of independence. I know that the USA has several such territories, as have France and the UK and probably a few other countries. One example that I know of is Puerto Rico, which has a couple of millions of inabitants and has independent internal rule, but otherwise is part of the USA (they voted in 1993 to remain in their current status and not become the 51st State of America). Should such "countries" (or "territories") have a page of their own if they have published "[[The Phantom]]"? or should any publication be listed under the country to which it "belong"? How should a cover be named? I have always thought that Fantomen covers were to be be named "Fantomen etc.." even if it was first published in Norway or any of the other countries which ''Fantomen'' was co-produced with because the main work was done in Sweden. Now we have the case of [[Fantomet 9/2015]] which was published August 20, while [[Fantomen 20/2015]] was published September 24. Thus we have the article [[Fantomet 9/2015 cover]]. :The [[Fantomet 9/2015 cover]] is an exception, it was produced for the edition in Norway without any plans for use in Sweden (as told by the artist in a Facebook post). An opportunity to use it in Sweden came already the same year, but it could also have been put on hold for years or never used at all. Other covers are produced for the Swedish edition, but sometimes appear in other countries some days/weeks before due to practical reasons. ==Merchandise Parent Category==
From what is rightly pointed out by Karl, I finally think that the concept of countries is not primordial and that territories having their own powers of autonomy might be  listed too, at least when some local Phantom publication is identified. So, in a first time, only “real” countries would be cited within the global list, and in another time, this one could be completed with more "distant territories" when something specific is known to be published there. However, even in the latter case, would not it be useful to name the territories into some kind of brackets in order to distinguish them more clearly and show that we knew they are not similar than “ordinary countries”… ? What seems important is to not adding a flow of territories names when  any local Phantom publication is really linked.[[User:Alain03|Alain03]] 13:06, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
I've noticed that it can be hard to find listings on merchandise unless you know exactly what you're looking for. Unlike, say, 'comics,' it can be hard to look up merchandise a some people might put something in as a toy, while another might list it as an action figure. I was thinking that if we had a parent merchandise category that all others could go under it would make finding those articles much easier. To all: we tried to do an update of the MediaWiki software this weekend but ran into some trouble. We always have a backup of the wiki database stored, so we could restore the Wiki today. However, the last few updates were missing from the back up. This means that the historical 10,000th article is gone with other articles that need to be rewritten. In Italia and Brazil some newspaper stories were edited and completely redrawn with new panels added by their local artists. In Italia Nebrini stories (some of them, I am not sure for all) were later redrawn with new panels by Fratelli Spada artists. One or two newspaper stories were remade in L'Avventuroso. :King Comics redrew some stories and those stories have their own articles. Example: [[Sunday story]] "[[Treasure of the Skull Cave]]" and [[King Comics story]] "[[The Treasure of the Skull Cave]]". Also, Team Fantomen has made remakes of old stories drawn by Moore and McCoy, they also have their separate articles. If what you are describing is of the magnitude of any of what I have described, then I believe that they should be given their own articles without hesitation, if this is a milder case, then perhaps further discussion is necessary. == Creating a template for art that does not fit anywhere ==
There are some art that is neither a panel, nor is it a cover, at least not used as a cover at the image in question. Since it is some form of art, someone should be credited as people are credited in the panel and cover templates. :THat's a great tool, thanks for adding it, though I and many of the older editors have used several accounts while editing, so totally, we have done more than what is shown.  I, for instance, have calculated that I have made another 10 085 edits at other accounts before the login problem was solved.  I see no way that a contributor could get that credit added to the account that they are using now, however, I also note that it is only logged-in users that are shown any result.  I previously to the time to sum up all the edits that I made with different accounts, putting the result at my personal page, and could therefore see that I have used several IP-addresses, but that I with five of them totally have done more than 7000 edits; some of those accounts would be at a top 10 all revisions list.
:I am not greedy for more credit, but I think it would be interesting to see the IP-addresses of those that edited without being logged-in, if it is possible. == Update to MediaWiki 1.16.1 ==
Yesterday the update to the newest version of MediaWiki was done, this time without any problems.<br><br>
With the update the new default skin of PhantomWiki is Vector, but with some small modifications to make it standout and be - in my opinion- more visual appealing and to give at a PhantomWiki touch.<br>
There are two reasons to change the default to Vector, one is that it is the official skin of MediaWiki and Wikipedia, any changes and improvements will be done to this skin. <br>
By using MediaWikis default skin I can implement these changes and improvements much easier than trying to copy them to another skin.<br>
The second is by using Vector as default any visitor and user familiar with Wikipedia will feel right at home.<br>
For these reasons I strongly encourage all users who now uses other skins to change there default skin to Vector.<br>

When browsing the wiki something struck me as, well not optimal. If a person is alive and well the page states "Death: N/A"
That really gives the wrong impression.<br>
I understand that the problem occurs because of the template. An elegant solution would be a dynamic template that doesn't show the row in question if it is not used.<br>

:I have taken a look at [[Template:Issuebox]], where the lowest row disappears if it is left empty. After some thinking, I have the suspicion that it is caused by the fact that there is no extra stuff added there automatically like at the other places. Due to that, i conclude that it probably cannot be made to disappear. There might, however, be another solution in writing "not yet" instead of N/A, I personally don't really know what N/A stays for, but I get the intended meaning. In my opinion the flags should not be changed as the flags serve only as a small illustration of where a comic has been published. Not the history of Spain. For the former purpose the flag should be easily recognizable, the version most can recognize is probably the latest.

Not very easy to find the article concerning the 1961 tv pilot when using the Wiki search engine. The article is entitled "The Phantom (1961 TV pilot)" and in fact I only found it through Google with the following search demand: “Phantom Tv Pilot 1961”. I like it also but I think its too small. Maybe the Newspaper box could be changed or the whole article could be rearranged to accommodate a larger image. I like the way the IpComics site does that for each story you have and image of the first strip or page. It’s great for cross-referencing.  When I want to find the origins of a story I’m reading I usually go to the IpComics site and by glancing at the first strip I usually solve my doubts. I find this wrong. I should be coming here! After all this is supposed to be the ultimate Phantom reference guide.
About the copyright thing maybe we should put a copyright watermark over each image. But remember, we’ve been uploadind cover images for ages and these are also copryrighted material.
 
:The copyright information could be kept at the text that accompanies the file, I don't want nice images to be ruined by copyright watermarks!!! I would prefer if a panel that is relatively representative of the story is used, merely using the first panel may then in at least some cases be a bad idea. Frew titles often deviate very much from the original titles. This is a complicated case, but what is clear is that the three parts should each be given their own title (we always follow the ''original'' story separations when we create the article, and not later publishers' combining/separation of stories). In this case, we have a Frew title for part 1 and part 2. We could use the direct translation of the Swedish title for the third part. == Update to 1.17.0 reverted ==
As we noticed, a bit late unfortunately, that the update to 1.17.0 done october 8 2011 was not a sucess. I have with the help of our ISP reverted to the last backup they made before the update attempt.<br>
This regretably means that all work on the wiki between october 8 to october 10 is lost. <br>
Next attempt to upgrade the wiki will be done in a totally different fashion. I will notify ahead of time and I will make a backup personally of both files and database. As i have learned, our wiki is now to big to be updated through the easy webinterface I have used before, so I will not use that anymore. I will instead use SSH. <br>
I did make backups of everything last times I updated but that is very tedious and slow work and those times it was unnecessary, so I honestly thought it would be this time too. I am deeply sorry for my mistake and hope you can forgive.<br>

This is a little confusing for me.
 
I see some discrepancies in the "Phantom Publications in Brazil" article with an equal situation classified differently. Also I would like to add two publications that are missing but I'm not sure how to classify it.

I have updated the wiki to the newest version, 1.21.1. It was as far as I can tell it is a total success. There where some changes to the Vector skin we use that where a little strange and arbitrary in this update but I managed to make the necessary changes to achieve the PhantomWiki look.
This update means that the old FCK editor no longer is supported, I have exchanged it with WikiEditor, this editor is used on Wikipedia. While I upgraded the rest of the extensions to their latest versions we got some spam but I trust that the updates will make them stop again.

Co-Produced Newspapers

I have recently come across a couple of examples of co-produced newspapers. In some cases, there are simply different editions of the same newspaper, but with different titles. Sometimes, There are to separate newspapers that are joined together, with diferent editions, eventually becoming only one edition. See LV., LK., VP., Folkbladet, and Östgöten which illustrates two examples of this.

HOW are we to make articles about this? Separate for the different editions (as I have done)? Separate articles for the different newspapers, even for the part of the publication of dailies after they have become one newspaper?

The issue is two-fold: firstly how the artcles about this should be structured, secondly how we should write in the story articles that the story has been reprinted in the newspaper (if there is no longer any difference at all between two papers, should they still both be mentioned?). Fantomen covers

How should a cover be named? I have always thought that Fantomen covers were to be be named "Fantomen etc.." even if it was first published in Norway or any of the other countries which Fantomen was co-produced with because the main work was done in Sweden. Now we have the case of Fantomet 9/2015 which was published August 20, while Fantomen 20/2015 was published September 24. Thus we have the article Fantomet 9/2015 cover. Should we do it like this? The Fantomet 9/2015 cover is an exception, it was produced for the edition in Norway without any plans for use in Sweden (as told by the artist in a Facebook post). An opportunity to use it in Sweden came already the same year, but it could also have been put on hold for years or never used at all. Other covers are produced for the Swedish edition, but sometimes appear in other countries some days/weeks before due to practical reasons. Andreas (talk) 15:18, 17 November 2015 (CET)

Merchandise Parent Category

I've noticed that it can be hard to find listings on merchandise unless you know exactly what you're looking for. Unlike, say, 'comics,' it can be hard to look up merchandise a some people might put something in as a toy, while another might list it as an action figure. I was thinking that if we had a parent merchandise category that all others could go under it would make finding those articles much easier. I'm sure there are other catagories on the wiki that could do with a parent category as well. Dr.Strange (talk) 10:39, 17 July 2018 (CEST)
