Lothar is the the closest friend of Mandrake the Magician, the title character in the American comic strip. He made a guest appearance in "The Phantom" together with Mandrake in the story The Wedding of the Phantom.

Lothar is also the prince of Wambesi.

Lothar is in a relationship with Karma.

Futuristic Settings

In Defenders of the Earth, Lothar is one of the defenders, and has the son L.J.

In King's Watch, Lothar is given the surname Kehwabe.
