Late at night off the coast of Bengali, sailors abandons a ship after running aground, leaving hundreds of Asian immigrants locked up inside. Police assistant Dwight is killed in the shooting but police assistant Fitzgerald is promoted to the first female criminal assistant in Morristown.

Plot summary
