King Arthur was a legendary British king who defended Britain against Saxon invaders in the late 5th and early 6th centuries. Many stories have grown around his legend, his wizard Merlin, wife Guinevere, the sword Excalibur, Knights of the Round Table, Sir Lancelot and the Holy Grail.
