Fictional Character Biography
According to the newspaper strip
Jeanette Lafitte was the sister of the famous pirate Jean Lafitte and grew up in the United States. In 1812, she met Kit, the 13th Phantom-to-be, who saved her from robbers. He immediately fell in love with her, but she was more hesitant at first about the mysterious stranger. Even though he learned that she was the sister of a pirate, he wanted to marry her, but her brother Jean refused to let them marry. Later that year, the 12th Phantom was killed, and Kit took the role as the Phantom. Jeanette stayed with her brother, while he helped fight the British, and later as he returned to piracy. When Lafitte attacked a Spanish Galleon in 1817, he encountered the 13th Phantom who was hoping to find Jeanette again. Jean Lafitte was killed in the battle, but gave his approval to let Jeanette marry the Phantom. Jeanette and the Phantom travelled back to Bangalla with the body of Jean, and buried him in the Vault of Missing Men in the Skull Cave. Jeanette and the Phantom married in 1818.
