Janie Cary is the wife of a past Phantom.

Fictional Character Biography

According to the newspaper strip

When the grandfather of the current Phantom is severely wounded, he got medical help from a young doctor, Bart Cary, who had opened a medical practice on the brink of the jungle. His sister Janie came to help him, bored with her life in New York and London. The Phantom courted her but the doctor refused to allow her to get married. They eventually married anyway in the Skull Cave. The Adventures of Lucy Cary

According to Team Fantomen

Jane was the wife of the 19th Phantom. They were married a few years before 1912. The Prisoner in Marrakech

In 1912 they were on a late honeymoon when Jane met a French Foreign Legion major who more or less kidnapped her. At that time she was already pregnant with her first child, the 20th Phantom and gave birth in The Deep Woods. The Prisoner in Marrakech. She has a maternal uncle, Alfred, who lives in Cairo, Egypt. Bastis the Cat Goddess

In 1919 she and and her husband travelled to England for vacation. U-118

In 1923 she visited the Bengali Natural History Museum with her husband and son. The Ibis Mystery, Part 3: Scarface

She loved horses and was a very good rider. In 1928 her son Kit was sent to her sister in London. Saved by Fate

Behind the scenes

Her name was changed from Janie to Jane when her first appearance was published in Sweden. Later Team Fantomen stories use the name Jane, and Frew has kept that name in their English language reprints of these stories.
