Fantomen Christmas Album is the longest running Phantom publication in Sweden. The first issue was released in 1944, predating the first issue of Fantomen with six years, and it has been released once a year since.

History

The practice to publish "Christmas albums" is a long and solid tradition in Sweden. Usually, children go from house to house a couple of months before Christmas with a catalogue of various Christmas albums, and take orders from buyers. As a reward, they will receive gifts of their choice, with better and more expensive gifts to choose from if they have many orders.

Christmas albums are also available to purchase in book stores etc.

The first Fantomen Christmas Album was published in 1944. It contained a story that had previously been published in Vecko-Revyn. For many years, the Christmas Albums mainly contained stories that previously had appeared in Vecko-Revyn.

Most of the Christmas Albums show the release year on the cover, although some show no year at all and from 1965 to 1986 the following year was given on the covers. This means that Fantomen Christmas Album 1965 has 1966 written on the cover, and so on.
