Latest revision as of 18:33, 16 August 2023

In the year 2012, a total of 19 issues of Swedish comic book Fantomen was published.

Overview

2012 continued the trend of reducing the number of actual issues published in favor of "double issues". In total, 19 issues were published of which 12 were regular issues of 68 pages and 7 were "double issues" of 132 pages. The double issues were on sale for four weeks, while the other issues were on sale for two weeks.

The first issue of 2012 was released on December 22, 2011. The corresponding issue of Fantomet was released on December 19, 2011, and was numbered as the last issue of 2011 instead.

Longtime editor Ulf Granberg retired during the year. Granberg was editor (or chief editor, while others held the title "editor") of 1001 Fantomen issues during 40 years, from Fantomen 1/1972 to Fantomen 9/2012. He was succeeded by Mikael Sol.

Phantom stories

All but one issue included new Team Fantomen stories as main stories, a total of 18 new stories. One issue included a Fratelli Spada story that had previously been published in Fantomen as main story. Several Falk & Barry Sunday stories appeared as back-up stories throughout the year, one of which had never been published in Fantomen before. Daily strip stories by Falk, Moore and/or McCoy were published in the double issues. For the first time, they were printed unedited (apart from translation) in Fantomen. To accomodate the format of the strip, these stories were printed sideways with three strips per page.
