Latest revision as of 20:17, 16 August 2023
In the year 2011, a total of 20 issues of Swedish comic book Fantomen were published.
Overview
2011 continued the trend of reducing the number of actual issues published in favor of "double issues". In total, 20 issues were published of which 14 were regular issues of 68 pages and 6 were "double issues" of 132 pages. The double issues were on sale for four weeks, while the other issues were on sale for two weeks.
The first issue of 2011 was released on December 22, 2010. The corresponding issue of Fantomet was released on December 20, 2010, and was numbered as the last issue of 2010 instead.
Fantomen 16-17/2011 was the 1500th issue of Fantomen since the start in 1950. To celebrate this, the cover by Sal Velluto and Eugenio Mattozzi is a remake of the first Fantomen cover, originally by George Camitz.
Promotion
Fantomen 14 and Fantomen 15/2011 were part of a summer campaign that included most titles published by Egmont Kärnan. The campaign was indicated by a symbol on the cover. People who bought two magazines featuring the symbol were eligible to participate in contests hosted by Egmont Kärnan.
Covers
The main cover artist of the year was Hans Lindahl (6 covers). Other cover artists were Sal Velluto and Eugenio Mattozzi (5 covers), Rolf Gohs (3 covers), Heiner Bade (3 covers), Felmang and Germano Ferri (1 cover), Felmang and Alex Biffignandi (1 cover), and César Spadari (1 cover).
Two of Velluto's covers were remakes of classic covers, i.e. the Fantomen 1/1950 cover and the Fantomen Christmas Album 1944 cover.
