Revision as of 13:50, 17 August 2019
In the year 2007, a total of 24 issues of Fantomen were published. It was the first time since 1967 that less than 26 Fantomen issues were published in a year.
Overview
Of the 24 issues, 17 were regular issues of 68/72 pages, 5 were expanded issues of 100/104 pages, and 2 were "double issues" of 132 pages. It was the first time since 1958 that "double issues" of Fantomen were published. The double issues were on sale for four weeks, while the other issues were on sale for two weeks.
Starting with Fantomen 9, the Fantomenklubben 4-page supplement was removed. This coincided with the relaunch of the official Fantomen.com website.
The first issue of 2007 was also the 1400th issue of Fantomen in total. It was released on December 28, 2006. The corresponding issue of Fantomet was released on December 27, 2006, and was numbered as the last issue of 2006 instead. The corresponding Finnish issue was released first of the three, on December 21, 2006, but was still numbered as the first issue of 2007.

Covers
Rolf Gohs was the main cover artist of the year, with a total of 12 covers. Other cover artists included Hans Lindahl (3 covers), Heiner Bade (1 cover, his first since 1983), Felmang & Rudy Walk (1 cover), and the new team of Sal Velluto & Eugenio Mattozzi (5 covers). Two covers were created by the editorial staff using old artwork by Jaime Vallvé and Kari Leppänen, respectively.
The color of the vertical striped bar along the left side of the cover was changed from red & black to blue & black. Starting with Fantomen 25, a new cover design was introduced where the actual cover artwork was placed within a frame, and the logo was placed in the top section of the frame.
All issues also featured one of six different illustrations on the first inside cover page or on page 3. One hadn't been published as an inside cover before.

Two issues had reprints of Team Fantomen stories as main stories, and one issue had a reprint of a Lee Falk & Sy Barry daily story as main story. Several reprints of Falk & Barry daily and Sunday stories, and one Team Fantomen reprint, appeared as back-up stories throughout the year.
