"The Wages of Sin" is a 1996 Team Fantomen story written by Claes Reimerthi, with art by Felmang and Edward Morrik.

Plot summary

In the 1880s the 17th Phantom investigates why four young women have been murdered in the jungle. At the crime scene the Phantom discovers a crucifix and he visits a nearby mission where his sister Julie is working. The crucifix is verified to belong to a young man, Henry, who suffers from a mental disorder that from time to time manifests itself as fits of rage. However, after Henry and sister leaves for England, Julie finds a piece of evidence that points to another guilty party and The Phantom travels to London where the unidentified "Jack the Ripper" is murdering women.

Behind the scenes

The story is said to begin in 1881 with the first murder which seems unlikely since The Phantom later arrives in London on the day of the Whitechapel double event which took place on September 30, 1888.
