Magnus Knutsson (born 1944) is a prolific Swedish comics writer. He was also one of the first writers to join Team Fantomen.
In the late 1960's, Knutsson and Janne Lundström edited the Italian Phantom stories produced by Fratelli Spada that were currently being published in the Fantomen comic book. Eventually, Knutsson and Lundström got the opportunity to write completely new scripts, and took the chance to modernize the Phantom comic which had been criticized for some time in Sweden. They brought in more up to date storylines that reflected the current situation in Africa.
Knutsson remained as Phantom writer until 1975, when he began collaborating with artist Ulf Jansson. Jansson had drawn two Phantom stories written by Knutsson, but decided he was more suited for a humorous drawing style. Knutsson and Jansson then began a long and successful cooperation where they created several humoruous adventure strips, like "Ratte", "Sveryda", "Martin Udd", "Bix" and "Kodnamn Falken", along with pure comedy strips like "Tobor", "Grönköping" and "Vår lilla stad". For other artists, Knutsson has written strips such as "Aron Rapp", "Gösta Grävling" and "Nilsson & Bengtsson".
In 1968, Knutsson was one of the founders of Seriefrämjandet (The Swedish Comics Society), along with Janne Lundström.
Knutsson is also responsible for Serieklubben, a Swedish book club for comics.
In 2005, Knutsson scripted another Phantom story, his first in 30 years.
